Ohhhhh boy, what a week!

Ohhhhh boy, what a week! We've had some super good things and crazy things happen this week!! I'll tell ya about the crazy stuff first =D

Sooooo, last week I had to do exchanges with my District Leader, Elder Sweeten. By the way, he is the MAN. Anyways, we were just walking through this area called Fallsbrook. This little area reminds me of East St.Louis lol. it has a bunch of run down trailors, lots of interesting people...lots of crazy barking dogs. yeah, so it was raining the day we were walking through Fallsbrook and we saw this guy chill'n out in his garage with his dog. My companion and I decided to talk to this guy. He was super nice. We talked for about 20 minutes while the storm died down a bit. We then brought up the church, and he said he was member but less active. He said, "Yeah I've been a member for a while, but i'm not really into the church anymore. My grandfather was one of the presidents of the church though. Yeah, Heber J Grant was his name." Say what!?! My companion and I tried not to freak out hahaha. what in the world is his grandson doing in Fallsbrook in Idaho!? What are the odds of that happening? So yeah, we're are gonna get him active again =P

In other news, my companion and I are seeing miracles left and right. We are finding a ton of potential investigators. For example! Just the other day we went to an appointment with an investigator named Jaun Carlos. he didn't show up, but his son was home...so we just started talking to him. then out of no where he said, "Hey, so the other day I was reading the Book of Mormon. It talked about the nephites and other really interesting things. But can you guys come back and teach me a little more about it?" Well OF COurSE! gah! that was awesome lol. We had a good lesson with him and we have another this week. And we are pretty sure Jaun Carlos is going to get baptized. He's hungry to learn and he's really opened up to us. He says every time we come over he feels peace. Jaun is so legit.

But seriously, we are seeing miracles left and right. There's a part in Preach My Gospel that says if you do EVERYTHING you can to find people to teach, the Lord will put people in your path. The Lord needs to trust his missionaries before he places them in our paths. That's something huge that I learned when Elder Clarke came and spoke to us. There's a reason why there are hundreds of missionaries in the Pocatello Idaho Mission. It's because the Lord's work is hastening, and there's more people being prepared!! I'm literally seeing it in the area I'm in. It's awesome.

LOVING the WORK

Holy cow this week was awesome!!! My new companion is sooooooo so so awesome. I have one of the best missionaries in the mission as my companion. I'm super lucky. He is probably THE most loving person I have ever meet. Now I really feel like a missionary because we are just on fire...and we have big plans for the Spanish Branch. We just try to talk to EVERYBODY in our are, and we've been having some awesome experiences. We plan to visit every member of the branch. We find miracles everyday. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty tough area...but we are making things happen.

The Branch is focusing on five families right now to reactivate. Since there are quite a bit of less actives, we are just focusing on the ones that really need our help and need that extra push. There's this one lady named Maria Alitriste...she hasn't been to church in a while...but we visited her the night before church and had a really good discussion. and BOOM. she came to church the next day. I was sooo stinking excited! haha ,my companion and i both looked each other and were like "whaaaa!? no way!" We also had a lesson with her one of her sons but the son doesn't really believe in God. He asked a TON of questions, and he really opened up to us. He has a ton of potential...hopefully we can continue to work with him and develop his faith.

But yeah, I'm so excited to work with Elder Bustamante. He's the best of the best, and it's an honor to to serve with him. When he shares his testimony...i get the chills man! it's powerful! We work alllll day long, and we are totally exhausted when we collapse into our beds at night. It's a great feeling.

This week was a sad week for one of President Brinkerhoff's counselors. Brother Nelson is the second counselor of the mission presidency...and his son, Jordan Nelson, passed away unexpectedly. Some of the missionaries sang a song for the funeral and I was able to be a part of that. Even though it was very sad, it was very powerful. This man changed so many lives from his positive attitude on life. He was just so loving and he was famous for his huge "bear hugs." A little girl, related to the Nelsons, sang "You got a friend in Me." It was Jordan's favorite song...that girl got the whole audience crying. Even though I didn't even know Jordan...it made me just want to be better and never have any regrets. Even though it was very sad, it was uplifting because of what we know about the Plan of Salvation. He might be gone for a little bit, but he's still going to be with his family. We will all see our family again. That's the beautiful part about it.  In John 16:33 it says, "These things I have spoken unto, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world." Jesus Christ lives, and he HAS overcome the obstacle of sin and death. what a glorious truth.

Well family and friends, all is going well in Idaho. There's much to be done, and my companion and I have the vision of what we want to accomplish in our area. I know for a FACT that if we work our butts off, He's going to help us. Well keep up the awesomeness Petitt family. I love the little updates of random things that are going on. Oh, can I get the address of Mrs. Shultz? I needz to write her a letter! haha, I think i'm going to send her some new garden scissors...she's always losing those scissors. OH, and you want to know how to make more money, or make more of ANYTHING? study chapter 8 of preach my gospel haha. That's what Elder Clarke told us to do.

Mk, love you alllll! Con mucha Amo
